By: Shafiq Ezati, On: July 4, 2016, Categories: cash for cars, Comments: no responses

Put in the elbow grease and sweat to prepare your vehicle for sale and you will probably see much more in the way of monetary gain in your bank account from selling your old car. It really isn’t the hardest thing in the world to accomplish; in fact, it’s so easy, even a child could do it, provided they were the same age as an adult.

People judge books by their covers

When you go out on a date, or job interview, or anything similar, you dress up in your best clothes. Because people take this as a reflection on who you are as a person, even though technically it doesn’t. And the same thing goes for selling things, like cars and houses.

When selling a house, the property has to be squeaky clean and immaculate. If it’s in a state of superficial mess it’s less likely to sell. Even though it’s the same house. People are shallow. It’s just something we all have to accept and roll with it. So when selling the old vehicle it pays to have it cleaned thoroughly.

When a prospective customer first lays eyes on the car and sees that it is fresh and shiny, that’s a good first impression, being made, and you most definitely have gotten off on the right foot.

Walk a kilometer in the buyer’s shoes

Put yourself in their head. What are they thinking when they are looking at your vehicle? If you do this certain things that you didn’t see before might come to attend, such as dents and scrapes. It doesn’t cost much to have them fixed, and it will help value onto your car. It will give a huge value in getting a cash for old cars.

Have a thorough inspection of the engine. Make extremely sure there are no leaks of any sort, including oil leaks, coolant leaks, etc. If there are any, you must get it fixed. I cannot stress how important this is enough.

Does the machine stink after years of smoking, filthy cigarettes in it? Give the interior a good clean. Dry clean any surface that needs it. Vacuum and put loads of air freshener on it.

Wash the Exterior

As has already been stated above, people are shallow and if your vehicle is dirty and filthy, it doesn’t matter how well it runs and performs, it doesn’t even matter if it’s a steal, you will have much more trouble selling it. So be sure to wash and wax the exterior to within an inch of its very existence. You want to be able to eat off of every surface. Anything less is unacceptable.

Remove any personal belongings

Have a good search for any personal items in all the nooks and crannies. There might be something under the seat, and you might have left tools in the vehicle boot. Make sure you are confident in the knowledge that every last inch is empty of things, otherwise if you sell it and an old family heirloom fell down the back of one of the back seats, you will never see it again.
